چکیده

Surface water and sediment on and near the Hanford Site are monitored to determine the potential impacts of Hanford-originated radiological and chemical contaminants to the public and to the aquatic environment. Surfacewater bodies included in routine surveillance are the Columbia River, riverbank springs, onsite ponds, and irrigation water at the Riverview irrigation canal. Sediment surveillance is conducted for the Columbia River and riverbank springs. Tables 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 summarize the sampling locations, types, frequencies, and analyses included in surface-water and sediment surveillance activities during 1997. Sample locations are identified in Figure 4.2.1. This section describes the surveillance effort and summarizes the results for these aquatic environments. Detailed analytical results are reported in PNNL-11796.

Potentially Toxic Elements Contamination in Sediment, Surface and Pore water of Maharlu Saline Lake, South - West Iran

Maharlu Lake, located in the SW of Iran, has acted as a sink for various wastewater discharges in the last few decades. This study aimed at assessing potentially toxic elements (PTEs) distribution in sediment, surface and pore water samples of Maharlu Lake. To achieve that, the samples were collected from each compartment and the total concentration of PTEs (Al, Fe, Sc, Cr, Co, Ni, Zn, As, Sb, ...

Risk assessment and mitigation measures on the heavy metal polluted water and sediment of the Kolleru Lake in Andhra Pradesh, India

The Kolleru Lake is a famous Ramsar wetland of international significance. In this study heavy metal contents in water and sediment samples are reported. It is found that certain potentially toxic metal ions like chromium (4.5-80 µg/L), copper (1-20 µg/L), manganese (1-313 µg/L) and zinc (1.2-57 µg/L) are present in variable quantities in the lake water. When normalized with respect to concentr...

Investigation of forest road surface sediment estimation using two experimental models of SEDMODL and WARSEM

Extended abstract 1- Introduction A bare surface on forest roads is created due to road construction. This surface is the main source of erosion and sediment yield to streams in forest areas. The increase of sediment in streams causes dramatic damage to the quality of water ecosystems and the life of aquatic organisms. Therefore, road engineers should pay attention not only to the cost of roa...

Evaluation of the status of heavy metal pollution in surface water and sediments of the Nil River (North Eastern Algeria)

Water and sediment samples were collected from six different stations, located along the Nil River between February and June 2015. Concentrations of cadmium, lead, zinc, and copper were determined. The extent of the sediment pollution was assessed, using the multiple pollution indices, namely contamination factor (CF), pollution load index (PLI), and the geoaccumulation index (Igeo). The result...
